Title: Monster 1200 - Project Bike
Post by: arrick on October 16, 2017, 12:49:22 PM
Hard to believe how long it's been since I built my first Monster project bike, but the time has come for the next one. I purchased a 2017 Monster 1200 S earlier this year and I'm going to start modifying the bike soon. This bike is my daily rider, so I'll be making the mods one step at a time in order to keep the time off of the road to a minimum. Stay tuned...

Info on my 2009 Monster 1100 can be found here: http://www.bikeexif.com/top-5-ducati-monsters

Can't wait to see what you do with all that plumbing.

I'm glad you are modifying the the newer 2017 1200S and not the older more neutered 1200s variant.

Yeah, when Ducati fixed the rearsets and made the recent aesthetic updates, I jumped all over the new bike.

Funny, your reason for switching to an 1200S was my reason for originally buying an S2R instead of an M1000 and 7 years later buying an 1100 EVO instead of an 1100

Those italians don't learn their lesson quickly. Seems like they are stuck in a loop.

Right. I mean seriously, who rode the 821/1200 with those jacked up rearsets and thought, "nah, it's fine"?

What ever happened to the 09' 1100? I enjoyed that build, I still have the same 09' 1100S that I modified similarly to yours.

A little precious metal to get us started. Decided to go with the full titanium system from Zard and it looks amazing. Can't wait to hear how it sounds. Hope to have it installed tomorrow. I'll share more photos when it's done.

Rear wheel was exactly the same and the front was about 2lbs heavier. So, not much at all.
