Crusty's out with a broken ankle crashing in FP2. Petrucci , Jack and Dovi are up there. Suzuki"s have potential too. Let's see what MV and MM can do here.

Crutchlow would be devastated considering his recent form at the Island. VR has a lot of work to do on set up it seems but loves the place. Who could forget VR running down his time penalty in one of his greatest wins.

MM said front end/front tyre issues giving strange feedback was the cause of the three factory Hondas crashing on Friday. He said he crashed without even pushing hard and backed off after Crutchlow's big crash. He is trying a different/older setting.

MM did great to overcome the front end issue and snap up pole. The kid's a genius. Also great to see four different manufacturers in the first four grid spots. I'll go for a ride in the morning and watch racing in the arvo [thumbsup]

That was an interesting Q2 for sure.  ;) Jackass was hanging it out to dry! My boy stuck it in there for a change.

Sam Lowes had a Randy Mamola "NO, you will NOT highside me" moment at the hayshed in FP3, and was very disappointed that it wasn't caught on video.

Looks like it was a great save. The Hayshed section is an experience and I really liked that section, but getting it wrong must cost badly. I remember pushing the front hard through there but having the back come around on a high powered bike at that speed..
That Mamola footage is classic.
The weather will be a little warmer but still mild tomorrow, about 20-21 of ours. The grip levels change quickly with a cool sea breeze or emerging sunshine. Only raced there once as a novice, but when the wind changed grip dropped substantially. I'll never forget inexplicably drifting out wide over Lukey Heights.

Thankfully a nice sunny day but at midday the air temp is still quite crisp. Come on sun, warm that track!

Itā€™s gonna get hotter in awhile. Wouldnā€™t mind seeing a new face or 2 on the podium.

Zarco just screwed the pooch and took MM out of race contention.

My Boy got shot out of a cannon and didnā€™t get much TV time till the last few laps. Bautista had a great race.  [clap] [clap]

That breaks the drought. His favorite track too.

Zarco and his bike got launched, shooting off MM's rear tyre at 180mph(290kph). The Honda's whole subframe was detached and kept in place by the rider's weight.

He narrowly missed a potentially very bad crash.

Yamaha gets a win. VR still off the pace.

Question for Koko or another Aussie.  Where is Phillip Island located?  I have a world map but its too small to include PI.
I really liked the race.  Happy for Vinales and Iannone.  Too bad Zarco had such a bad crash, the racers all look so fragile, (except for Crutchlow and Petrucci) such a bad crash and most walk away.

https://www.visitphillipisland.com/
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Island

It's so close to the mainland that detail maps only reveal it, so you only drive to it vis a bridge.  It's south east of Melbourne off the Gippsland region coast (good dairy country). It's hard to spot as it partially encloses Western Port bay. The island you might spot on a map is French Island which is above it.

From a brief interview, I've not seen Zarco so sober or shaken up. That really put the wind up him.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsport/moto-gp/motogp-marc-marquez-and-johann-zarco-collide-at-280kmh-during-australian-gradn-prix/news-story/9d0d0338873ea71987cc06950219f88e

Pics show why he was so shook up. While Zarco grass surfed at a 100mph, Marquez also had a close one, nearly taking the M1 as pillion.

Koko,  Thanks for the info, beautiful place.
Winter will be here soon in NJ, Hope to do some tuning on the BDST-38 carbs this year.  I notice you were discussing the Ducatigirl100 changes to jet location again.
Thanks again,  Sterling

PM sent [thumbsup]
I would revisit those threads on carb mods.

Good to see Kopf's boy do well. Unlucky to move factories when he did, but thats hindsight. Fact is MM has an edge over everybody.

Vinales did the business, I was shocked he just ran away.

Zarco dodged a cannon round, that was ugly.
He jumped that pitlane exit road grass-surfing on his back just like it was designed that way.

Rins did well.
WTF was Iannone's problem in Parc Ferme?
I don't recall the last time I saw someone that had just finished a distant 2nd place in MotoGP be so pissed off.
Dude should make an effort to enjoy his last MotoGP podium.
He was fast, I figured he was going to bake a tire and finish 8th.

Seemed like Rossi was the one that baked a tire.

Dovi 3rd, Bautista 4th, Miller 7th.... things are looking up.

Yeah, it did look like Iannone was getting stuck into his team like a douche'.

That was the first time Zarco had nothing to say.

I'm happy when the Suzukis are up there.

MV reminded everyone what he can do.

Is there any chatter on what he was going on about?

If he was wronged in the race, I could see him being pissed.
But it sure looked like he was saying "make the beast with two backsers, if you had lowered the swingarm pivot like I wanted, I would have won!"

Crashnet might have some gossip. It really did look like he was riding the wheels off it to be blown away on the straight despite excellent drive through turns 11 and 12. The bike was impressive through the Hayshed and Iannone made some great moves there (like Nicky used to on the Ducati and Honda). It looked like he was berating the team. Come to think of it I did see Jack have a a word with someone out of the picture and his team members cordon him off and direct him away. Did you notice that? It was like Jacks team told him to behave. Couldn't tell who he was interacting with.
Checked Crash Net, nothing so far.
