Title: Foot peg holder
Post by: Monster722 on April 05, 2021, 04:51:46 AM
Hi guys,

I’ve painted my foot peg holders. Now I ran into a problem while assembling it. There is a 4-hole lock nut to tighten axis in place.
I’ve used air-gun with hex wrench to disassemble it, but I’m afraid to rip off the threads. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210405/2e07a802c5a70690a78fb1c4d826500c.jpg)

I don't know your bike, but I suspect it's not just throwing it together...

The threaded dowel/bushing goes into the engine casings? Held in place by the special 'nut'? Then the regular bolt holds the holder in place? I'm guessing that the depth and pressure could be essential. Work Shop Manual and/or ask a dealer?

Hate to say, think you answered your own question, Unless ones really experienced mechanic, even then I doubt they'd ever use an air gun or nomadic tool on expensive aluminum parts, lesson learned.

Actually I already figured it out . Thanks to “stopintime” for comments. First nut was there to align the whole foot peg holder and spanner nut was there to fix it in place. I’ve hand tightened that spanner nut using elongated pliers. Unfortunately that was all I had in my garage.

Now I’m searching for the spanner wrench to give it a proper torque.

By the way the foot peg holder was absolutely fine after using airgun to unscrew the bolt. The threads fine too and everything seats solid.
