Title: So the left turn signal started freezing up .......
Post by: diamonddog-2 on December 22, 2021, 08:23:45 AM
Hi all.  I figured I would tap all the collective brain wizards here [ [bow_down] ] before seeing what's-what on my 2001 M900. The bike's in storage out in the back yard but I do have heat when needed.
About 6 weeks before storage, the left turn signal froze up. A few weeks later the right turn signal also froze up. I can still depress the turn signal switch but it won't move left or right.
Anybody familiar with this?  Can the switch be taken apart and cleaned to restore it? ........ or just swap it out for 1 that works.   ???

Just wonderin'

It can be taken apart, a bit tricky and no guarantee of success.  Do make sure the switch is not too tight, this will cause it to bind.

Try a light shot of silicone spray?

Try a light shot of silicone spray?
Or maybe contact cleaner?

Thanks for the info.  I have both silicon spray and contact cleaner.  I'll give them a whirl and see if it helps.

Thanks all.  I found my electrical contact cleaner/lube. It was finally warm enough to get into the shed, went out and gave it a shot. After working the switch a bit, everything started loosening up.
I've just never had that issue before.
Anyway,  [thumbsup]
