Title: fuel pump & flange same on s2r 800 & 1k?
Post by: DuciD03 on January 11, 2022, 09:12:31 AM
is the fuel pump & flange same on s2r 800 & 1K?

Thinking of swapping tanks; it would be nice to know if you can do a direct swap between an s2r 05 800 to s2r 07 1k without removing the fuel pump.

Every thing looks exact same. ...Knowing that the extra 200 cc's would use more fuel, pump would be either bigger and/or work harder.

Everything is the same.

I'd at least put in a new filter.

Thanks for verifying everything's the same; fuel filters replacement is a good idea; but if I don't have to take it apart Id avoid opening er up.

(Wouldn't the  f. pump be either bigger and/or work harder. in a 1K?)

No. The parts are all the same. The adjustment is made with the injectors. The minute amount of extra fuel the 1K uses means nothing to the pump.

You're already having issues starting the thing, according to your other thread. Why add another variable?

Buy a new o-ring, and filter, and do it right.

Agree; to do it right you'd replace the fuel filter and the large flat bottom sealing O-ring tank flange while the tank was off.

But thats 10x the work! and mess syphoning gas. When you can just unplug, swap, re-plug & and play. (unplug 3 hoses; and one electrical connector)

BTW -  No real issues aside the hesitation; after being stored for couple of years; once it turned over it fired (started) right away ;D

Are you just going to replace the tank when it needs a filter?

Unless you're planning on replacing the tank every time you need a filter, it seems easiest to just get it out of the way. Do it your way...I'll watch for your thread asking why the bike isn't running right. :-*
