Title: Ducati and Enea Bastianini fastest at Malaysia Day 2 Post by: paso87 on February 06, 2022, 08:44:06 AM Day 2 of preseason MotoGP testing is in the books. Enea Bastianini on the GP21 Ducati was fastest of all and he set a new lap record at the track. 18 riders were within 1 second of Bastianini. The GP22 which has a new engine and more horsepower has some kinks to work out however of the top four Ducatis in the top 10 three were GP22s. Jorge Martin, GP22, finished in third, Pecco Bagnaia, GP22 in sixth, and Johann Zarco, GP22, in ninth. Luca Marini, Valentino Rossis brother riding a GP21, finsihed 11, Jack Miller, GP22 in 14th, and Fabio Geantonio, GP21 is a little over a second behind Batianini. Last year Bastianini riding the two year old GP19 was quite late race sensation coming though the filed with several top ten finished and one or two podiums. If he starts better on the GP21 he could be a major player. Last year he was runner up Rookie of the Year to Jorge Martin who was riding the GP21.
