Title: Rebuilding an unrebuildable NLA MV Brutale slave cylinder.
Post by: koko64 on March 24, 2022, 08:44:34 PM
A local company can make seals to enable the rebuild of NLA parts. I previously rebuilt two Ducati later model "star" clutch slave cylinders using their seals. I wasn't sure the company survived but found the company was still operating in new premises.

This time an early MV Brutale. The slave cylinder is NLA and no one makes a copy for it. Oberon, etc only make replacements for the later model MV's. The customer and I decided to source a used part and rebuild it. After failing to find an Alfa or Fiat part, I turned to the local company called metric seals. www.metricseals.com.au

Interestingly the part came from the Ukraine via ebay and was posted just in time before the invasion. You find parts in the most unlikely places.

The part was in reasonable condition and with a polish and new seal will replace the leaking original unit. The original unit will also be rebuilt and kept as a spare. The old seals will be kept as templates. CIome to think of it, I have a bunch of leaking Ducati slave cylinders to rebuild.

A single seal is about 50 bucks but 10 or 20 are only about 15 bucks each.

Pics soon.

Good info, I have a few friends with MVs. Might be worth a post to https://www.mvagusta.net/forums/ if you haven’t already. Parts for these bikes are always hard to find, especially older stuff.

I think the owner is a member, I'll ask him to post. [thumbsup]

I was concerned when a larger box arrived, about 18 inches square. They sent the sprocket cover outer case, with it's inner plate, speedo sensor and clutch pushrod with the slave cylinder attached. :D
