Title: Appears to be a Shortage of Keihin FCR Carburettors
Post by: koko64 on March 28, 2022, 04:02:30 PM
I have noticed that a number of vendors are out of stock. The price of used units has gone through the roof. I heard an unverified rumour that Keihin were considering ceasing carburettor production.
The used part vendor Mukiedo in Japan has raised its prices accordingly. They have four sets available. I note that Powerbarn and Motowheels are out of stock.

Possible options.
This one is for Elefants. You would have to check fitment. You won't need the filter and it appears to require pods on a Monster/SS. Don't know if it will fit with an airbox.

From the Japanese used parts shop.

Mikuni any good to you?  Worked wonders on my DR650...

I used the equivalent FCR dirt bike carbs on my M750 . The issue is making the manifold modifications to use side draft carbs on a downdraught intake system. I would use two TM38 carbs on manifold adaptors if I couldn't find FCR or Mikuni pumper carbs that could fit side by side.

Pepe is going to run a big Mikuni HSR pumper with a 2 into 1 manifold he'll conjure up.

I spoke to the local importer and the retail price of an FCR41 kit is now up to $2500 AUD on special order.

I've found the UK and parts of Europe not too bad.  Japan's shipping is currently the most expensive I've had to deal with.

A set of 41's with manifold rubbers and a throttle cost $149 USD to ship from Japan.
I just picked up some 39's and negotiated not buying the metal battery box, manifold rubbers, throttle, cables, pod filters, etc that came with them to knock $50 USD off the shipping and another $300 USD off the total price to just pay for the carbs.
