Title: 2002 M750 starter removal, can't reach one bolt
Post by: Phl2002M750 on August 05, 2023, 07:50:53 AM
Good day,
My M750 2002 needs a new starter.  I am trying to remove it.  I can get to one of the two bolts on the right side of the engine but the left of the two bolts is so close to the oil line connections on the engine case that I can't get a  1/4 inch 8mm socket on the bolt head.  Only comes in at a angle and does not grip.  I can't find a shollow 1/4 8mm socket that will fit

Is there a special tool?  regular 8mm wrent will not fit in either.

Thoughts?  suggesgtions?
It would be nice to start my engine again without finding a long hill.

The starter is bolted to the engine on the left side. One outside and two inside the alternator cover, which has to come off.

It sounds like the two bolts you are talking about are the ones keeping the 'shell' on. Usually accessed to replace brushes (I think).
