I'll stick with my 32gig touch.

I'll stick with my 80gb classic. I'll upgrade when i run out of room on this one.

Apple needs to make a head unit for a car... one that automatically syncs with itunes via wireless when parked in the driveway or in the garage. No ipod, the deck works as the ipod.

Wow, they basically went back to the previous design, just with an even bigger screen.

I wish they'd go back to a monochrome screen displaying the necessary information. If I wanted to look at the album art, I'd, you know, pull out the actual album...

The user interface of the older iPods is still the best I've seen. Plus, a monochrome screen would help extend the battery life a bit more.

Maybe you could send them your idea. I heard the company was in trouble.
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

Oh yeah, they're beleaguered, for sure.  [laugh]

I long ago gave up on Apple (or any company, really) making things that I like. Best I can hope for is "close enough". :P

You know... I'm thinking about getting an iPod Touch. The low-end one went to $229.

I'm imagining that it would make a decent internet tablet / PDA / music holder.

Anyone have one? Does it fit the bill?

My only misgiving is that I will probably be better off buying a nice cell phone with a data plan. Ugh.

And let's just say that I have nothing better to worry about.

I loved my iPod Touch so much that I got an iPhone. I really like the Safari browser on it, the calendar syncs easily, email works, music works and the screen is big enough for enjoying video.

You can get really close to that, now, with an Apple TV, especially if you've already got wireless in your home.  You'll still need an iPhone or iPod touch for remote control, though.

It's on my list of future projects!  Got the iPhone, got the inverter, got the AirPort Express lying around, got the audio in port on the car stereo.  I've even got a spare Apple TV that I picked up on eBay for $115.

+1 except I haven't gotten the iPhone yet. I love my Touch. I wish it had a speaker tho (it'll beep at you but thats about it).

If you're a student, teacher, or education administrator, and are buying a new Mac, you can get a new (older model, but N.I.B.) iPod touch 8 GB, for free, through the 15th of this month.

That's what I did.

They let you use the cost of the "free" 8gb toward a 16 or 32 if you want to.
