My buddy broke up with his GF over the weekend... changed the locks and went on with his life.... he gets back from dinner last night... and cops are helping her take stuff out of his place... with the door broken down and laying on the floor.... according to them... because he gave her a key... she has tenant rights and he can only kick her out by evicting her...  and she could get into house by any means needed if the door was locked.... What the hell am I missing here... is this f'ed up or what??  Now he needs to buy a new door, and worry that his land lord wont evict him for all this.

A key makes you a tenant?  Then I'm a tenant at 5 of my friends' places.

Weird.

Maybe if your buddy had let the ex take her stuff, under supervision of course, then the cops wouldn't have had to break down the door.    Cry

Actually, both parties in this seem kind of like douchebags.  Evil

Him for changing the locks and locking her out, and her for not trying to contact him to get her stuff and going straight to the authorities. Roll Eyes

What?  He didn't report the theft to the cops?  They were right there. Police
