I'm at 3400 miles. I haven't done anything since the 600 mile checkup. NOTHING! Except maybe check the air in my tires.

My question: Don't I need to change the oil soon? And here's the whopper: How do I do that?? No, really, I actually don't know!

Laugh it up... then help me.

The oil changes itself if you bring a bottle of scotch to duckwrench.

Depending on the scotch, it might be cheaper to do it yourself.

Yes, it's time to change the oil, but it won't explode if you don't do it right now.

There's a great How-To video from Ca-Cycleworks in the How-To (or maybe it's the Tech) section.  Alternatively, I'll probably be changing my oil not this weekend but next (Oct. 4-5) if you're near SF and want to change yours as well.

You also need to check your chain tension and lube your chain.  There's a vid on that too.

I'm working on the bikes tomorrow.

Things you need:
Jug of oil
Oil Filter
Crush Washer

If you don't do it with someone who has tools:
Oil filter wrench
10mm Hex
Oil Drain Pan
Funnel

Thats the basic list to get by on. Like I said I'm working on the bikes tomorrow if you want to swing by. I'm in San Leandro, PM me if you'd like.

Set up a MOB wrench day.  I did my first oil change at a wrench day at TCK's place.  It was great.  Got to meet some cool people and got great FREE advice on wrench stuff.  I'm sure you're not the only one who's monster needs fresh oil.

+11 billion on having met cool people at a MOB Wrench Day!  DarkStar hosted the last one and there was scotch, Ptam's ribs,  bacon, and yup, I also learned how to change the oil on my Duc....  Grin waytogo
