G'day All
Day off today, so I decided to get up nice and early and go for a ride, I start early, Left the house at 4:30 am, this mean I pretty much have the Gillies range to myself.
The Gillies was a blast, 160 + corners, no traffic and a Ducati Monster with a Termi Exhaust at full Tilt!
What a way to wake up the world!  Grin
5:30am arrive in Yungaburra, very heavy Fog, stop for for a happy snap and a quick stretch.

Right, stretch over, Gear back on and off to Atherton, Arrive in Atherton at 5:50am, again heavy Fog, but still fun, very little traffic
Drop in at a local park to wait for Macca's to open, Took a Photo of an old train left at the park and watched the Platypus frolic in the nearby lagoon. Hey look! somebody left a rather spiffy looking Ducati in the carpark, might have to get that into the photo too!  Grin

Went back into town to Macca's, says on the sign they open at 6, bunch of dicks now open at 7, haven't changed the sign out front.
Oh well, off to Malanda, Weather is cool, Fog is starting to clear.
Roads are in good condition with no sign of  Police Taking it easy though just in case he's hiding somewhere with the flash for cash.
Into Malanda, trundle past the Malanda falls, Got a pic for you:

Sneak into town, taking it easy, local  Police I assume would not want his quiet town disturbed by a loud set of Termi's at 6:30 am
Malanda is the home to Malanda milk (Dairy farmers) (useless little fact for you)  Wink
Rumble out of Malanda on the way to Milla Milla and the start of the Palmerston Highway, arrive in Milla Milla about 6:53 and leave at 6:54
What can I say? it's only a small place!
I figured while in Milla Milla I'll get some Photo's of the famous local Waterfall, I turn down the road to the Waterfall and find the road is blocked.

Local farmer is moving his herd of Cows across the road from the milking shed, I decided to keep my distance, figured the bike might spook them, after about 10 mins of waiting (Just how many cows does this guy own FFS!) I decided the falls would have to wait until next trip.

Off down the Palmerston Highway to Innisfail.
The Palmerston is a little rough in places, but still a blast, nice big long sweeping corners, all downhill to the coast, It's used by a lot of truck drivers to haul goods up and down from the Tablelands to the Coast, so it's always busy with trucks, but if you get stuck behind one, it won't be for long as the road is very wide and passing is very easy.
Stopped at a lookout about halfway down, Crawford Lookout looking out over the Johnstone river.

Looked at the views and listened to the Semis come flying past with there turbo's screaming, all getting a run up for the steep section that I have just finished riding on.

On to Innisfail.
Got some breakfast at the Innisfail Macca's and toured around town for a minute or 2 (it's only a small place)
Stopped at a local rest stop and got another pic. Filled the Tank with BP Ultimate, The S2R 800 seems to love the stuff! (It shouldn't but it does)

Sent a couple of SMS's to the Wife and my brother, back on the Monster and on the highway back to Cairns,  Police is merciless around Innisfail with the speedgun, so took it easy, lot's of roadworks, filtered my way through the waiting traffic to the front of the line each time we had to stop and left them behind.
Pretty boring trip back to Cairns, finally found  Police and his Flash for Cash halfway back to Cairns, Spent more time in the right lane passing everyone! everyone see's the speed Camera and decide to do 80 in the 100 zone's, doesn't worry me, quick squeeze of the Throttle I'm around them and gone  Evil

Was going to get a nice photo of Cairns from Copperlode dam road, but someone decided to go and get himself killed on the only main road into Cairns this morning, traffic was banked up for KM's so I turned off the highway and came home, thankfully I didn't have to try and get through all that shit, what a mess.

So here's a photo I took a few weeks back of Sunrise over Cairns from Copperlode dam road.

Joy!  waytogo

WOW! that was great to read CairnsDuc waytogo Fantastic what time did you get back home?

Wish I could do that sort of thing but 4.30am??? not sure Grin

It's great to think, that when you can't sleep for one reason or another, you can go for a ride like that, and you are lucky enough to be able to do it too?

I 've had some times in my past, but did not have a bike or a licence at the time, would of blown the cobwebs out I bet.

Thanks Again CairnsDuc great pics

Thanks for sharing. It looks like a brilliant ride.

Sounds like it was all over before I even got out of bed.

I was back home by 9:30am, I like to ride early, apart from the fact I can't sleep, But I avoid the traffic, and I avoid the heat.
Less stress on me and the bike  waytogo
