The bike - 2005 S2R800 with speedymoto top triple 53mm to accommodate the SBK forks.

The problem - The speedymoto clipons have two piece clamps which make it very easy to mount under the triple. This is where I want it for a steeper riding position.  The problem is the clipon clamp bolt flange is making contact with the headlight mounting braket bolts.  The only solution we have found is to cut the head light bracket mounts off the 'U' bracket, flip them over and weld them on the inside of the 'U' bracket.  I would like to keep the headlight and screen in the stock position.  We had considered running the clipons on top of the triple but thought the fork angle would be too steep and compromise handling/safety.

Has anyone had this problem.  Before I cut and weld is there anything else I should consider?  I would post pics but the bike is at the shop.

This is a known problem with the monsters. It was discovered on the first run of the 50mm clip-ons. SM was talking about making a special clip-on for the Monster, but that may be a while.

Do you know approx when this was discovered?  It seems a little odd when I ordered a monster SBK triple and the clipons for it they didn't say anything...

contact Taft or a local welder, you can lower the headlight brackets. This is a problem not only with the speedymoto clip ons, but any clip on that has no rise to it.

I spoke w/ one of the SpeedyMoto guys  about this in Indy.  I was told that they are definitely going to do a monster specific clip-on.  It should be done sometime this winter and it will have approx. 30mm of rise to it.

Got the bike back today - pics coming.

To solve the clearance issue we turned the headlight mounting brackets upside down, switched them from left to right and welded a new mounting tab to the "U" to bolt the now upside down mounting brackets.  If you can imagine the top bolt of the bracket is now in the bottom bolt position with the bottom bolt in the new tab.  The net result is the clipons fit and the headlight/fairing are still in the stock position.   Pics when I get them.  Tomorrow is the last riding day of the year here.  I can't remember a November 14 without snow and tomorrow will be 14C above.
