Help! My new leather jacket keeps attacking my helmet when I'm riding!

This probably sounds like a silly problem, but it's annoying as hell and I really need to solve it:

Put clip-ons on the Monster recently, below the triple Tomassellis, and now my Alpinstars leather keeps butting up against my helmet.  It's new and pretty stiff, and bunches up in the shoulders when I lean forward which is what's causing the problem (not just the collar.)

We adjusted the bars up and it's a bit better now - can't go any higher though.  Anybody else run into this and have a simple fix they can recommend?  I definitely don't want to have to get rid of the bars (or the jacket, if I can help it...)

I've had problems with one of my back protectors butting up against the base of my helmet when I'm really leaned over or with my shoulder armor getting in the way with one of my jackets that doesn't fit that well.

Some of your problem--but not all--is likely your riding position.  If you ride dirtbike style or are coming from regular handlebars, you probably ride with your elbows up.  Drop your elbows and tuck them in.  That'll change the position of your shoulders, your shoulder armor, and the leather below your back.
See if changing your arm position helps.  Good luck.

P.S.  It also sounds like your jacket doesn't fit as well as it might otherwise.

+1, well i know exactly waht your talking baout since we have the same bike and i had those clippies.

If you bring your elbows down it pulls the back of the jacket closer to your back since thats the natrual positoin of the jacket. if you ride elbows out, it pulls the side of the jackets out and the collar gets popped. its kind of annoying riding with elbows down though. but its the only other option, even with my new cycle cats, i have the same problem, but its not as bad as it was when i had those toms.

You need to buy another jacket brother. I have an Icon Daytona Jacket when I ride my S2R and I have an Icon Motorhead jacket when I'm on my S4RS. The motorhead does not have a collar and it has a little tail when your bent over so far. It is a great fit too. You can see from my Flickr page below I have some pics of me wearing the Motorhead jacket. I have good clearance between Shoei X-11 and Icon Jacket. I'm also running clip-ons under the triple.

Hope this helps.

If you want a suit like this with a small collar, look into the Joe rocket jackets and suits.

Oh man, hope I don't have to get a new jacket. :'(  I'm gonna trying riding with my elbows down and in, as suggested, and see how that works.  I thought I was doing that already, but maybe I've been kidding myself...

Well, I'm happy to report that my jacket and helmet are now getting along.  I know many of you were concerned about my plight, but after following the advice of He Man and Spidey and keeping my elbows tucked in (and raising my clip-ons about 3/8 of an inch), the problems seems to have been vanquished.  Rode all day with no helmet/jacket conflict whatsoever.

I couldn't a done it without you guys.  I'm gonna sign off now cuz I'm getting all choked up...

i had a similar problem with my AGV jacket until I made a zipper attach for the rear (where the jacket zips to their matching pants).  I got a belt made with snaps for the zipper.  Now, the strip holds the rear of the jacket in place right above my belt line.

It is definitely a fit issue.  I have wide shoulders and a thin(ner) waist and none of the jackets fit me well.  Not saying my waist is dainty.  I wear a "44 Sport" sized suit jacket, which is hard to find as is and none of the bike jacket makers do anything off the shelf

Once i hit a riper age I'll get a jacket made..:D
