time off

i can generally plan for pto without an argument from the boss because he has no clue what's going on..
that said, i usually work late getting everything done ahead that i can, so work flows better while i'm gone.

i direct a team, so without me they usually do nothing unless i prep them.

I normally wouldn't suggest going above your boss' head, but isn't there a HR dept. or higher up that could clear things up?

If you boss isn't following company procedure, he can get in big doo doo.

I take time whenever I want it (I earned it afterall!).  I obviously use good sense when taking time off (like avoiding it right when a big project is due, and don't take the same day as everyone else on my team does), but if I needed to, I could take any day i wanted to. 

My boss is awesome and doesn't hassle me about taking time.  She's even really flexible about a skipping out a couple hours here and there (since I work plenty of hours).

We're scheduled to work the days after Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Like patients really want to come in on those days

+1, see if your HR department can do something.

If not, take a sick day, then come back with a note from your doctor telling your boss that you became sick from overwork and stress.

I'm working the day after thanksgiving, and the day after christmas, and the day after New years.   

But I have no social life, so it's all good.

I'm off today and the rest of the week but I'm at my in-laws house and will be till Saturday.  Is that really time off?
