Chain tension M1100

 First thing , I can't believe that they don't include a tool to adjust your chain. In the manual it says you have to visit the dealer. If I had know this I would have kept the Spanner wrench out of my VFR. The dealer claims that the chain is to be run loose on the 1100, any opinions on what the slack should be?

its called a flat-blade screwdriver, and a hammer.  just loosen the two clamp bolts on the swingarm then place the screwdriver in one of the notches where the spanner wrench would normally fit, wack the back of the screwdriver to turn it and loosen or tighten the chain.  It is aluminum and tears it up a little...just like the ones on your rear spring.  I ground the blade off a screwdriver so it is more of a blunt object, not tearing up the aluminum too much.  Retighten the clamp bolts to 37Nm.

Page 88 of your owner's manual says 61 - 63 mm.  Yeah, that's pretty damn loose, but better to err on the side of loose.
