Hi all. Happy new year. My question is: is there a good all around manual for doing basic maintenance? I have a 696 and new to wrenching but willing and hopefully able for annual upkeep. thanks

Other than the shop manual, get one of the Desmotimes manuals.

I have both the 2-valve and the 4-valve manuals.  The best part is that if you run into problems when working on your bike, you can post questions on LT Snyder's forum (DT Message Board) and he'll answer with good information to help you out.  I think he might have created the forum so that he can improve his books and clarify any parts that people find confusing.  And that's good thing.

Yea, I saw that post. I'm not sure about the format being compatible with mac.

I didn't see anywhere in the eBay ad stating what format the files were in, other than electronic file format.  Most likely they're PDF files, which are compatible with any modern computer, since Adobe makes sure there are readers available for all "known" operating system.  If you're interested in that, you could always send the seller a note to check what the format is.

No issues with the manual.  But the parts list does not work.  Not that big of a deal because you can get the PDF from Ducati.  Plus you can just go into the directory and click on the files, they pop up nicely in quickview.

Just bought the manual and downloaded the parts list some time ago. Will also pick up LT Snyders books as well. Thanks all.
