It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

That is a whole bunch of cool.

Of course for the price you could get a 1198 and have money left over....

Jaman

Definitely would upgrade to a disc, but otherwise/still a pretty sweet bike.

Here's an interesting article on/by The Man himself...

Or build one close to that, even better in some ways, for at least 1/2 the price...

Could be done without too much trouble with a 60's triumph twin as a donor bike.

Brakes just slow you down... ;D

That bike wasn't intended for the road.

Small brakes work great in the dirt.

About $17,661 pricey to be exact.    That coin will get you a lot of Ducati.

You're right, but...with some better brakes and different tires it would probably be a very good and fun road bike.  I've noticed with my own old and stock Triumph that I don't need blazing or even rapid acceleration to have fun.    But, like alfisti said, 17,000 buys a lot of Ducati.  An advantage to the old Britbike motors is that they had relatively light crankshafts and corresponding light engines, about the same weight as a modern 350cc four cylinder.  But they also make about the same power as a modern 350.   If I had $17,000 laying around I think I'd buy an older Monster to work on rather than build a Metisse, and use the leftover 12,000 or so for beer and tools.   I really like the concept of a Monster-Metisse.  Something halfway between a stock Monster and a TerraMostro.
