Rizoma grips: any solutions for the slightly shorter length?

hello folks,

i just installed the rizoma sportline grips onto cycle cat clip ons.
the rizoma's are a touch shorter than stock so there is a slight gap now between the grip and the bar end.
searching through the DMF site didn't turn up anything except for cutting the bar end down. and i can't think of any other solutions...

anyone else out there have a different solution or does everyone just cut them? not sure i want to cut into my cycle cat clip ons.

-will the rizoma bar ends do the trick?

simple fix.

Loosen the screws that hold your throttle body, slide it towards the end, tighten.

sounds easy enough but...

i'd have to find a way for the grips to stay secure. i don't believe the throttle assembly will torque down tight enough to prevent it from slipping. there is a little post in the housing that lines up with a hole in the handle bar that secure it.

ok, I had assumed you had already ground that tab off so it would work with the aftermarket bars as most do not account for that hole.

Anyways,

simply measure the distance between it and where the new one would sit, and drill a new hole.

Or just ground down that nub.  At least that that's what I did to move the controls.  Not on the same bar though.

good input and might be the only solution to make it all look seamless. i was avoiding drilling but i guess it's not a major thing...

File the nubs down or get some bar end mirrors and instll between the grips and bar ends. That is the way mine is set up. Or you could just cut the bars down. I had a pair of Rizoma bars and had to cut em down.

Don't drill another hole close to the original hole as it will weaken the bars, just carefully grind the nubs off and wrap a thin strip of tape under the clamps and gentally tighten the cap heads. Thats what i do and i've had no problems   [thumbsup]

I also cut off about that much, but because I wanted to move the controls in a bit.

+1 on that.  I was originally worried that the throttle assembly would rotate on the bars without the locating pin, but hasn't been a problem.  (Different bars though, but shouldn't make no never mind).

I too have the CC clip ons and rizoma grips same as pompetta and the OP have. Sexyist dash Ive seen. My solution also was to cut the ends off the bars. It would not be difficult to make another set of bars if you wanted to reverse the cutting, theres no real special machining or anything on the bars.

i might still go and cut the bars down but i found a quick fix for now...

i found out the CRG hindsight LS mirror can be mounted onto a 22mm handle bar. i mounted them at the end of the bar and used the stock bar ends for now. although i didn't have the exact amount of space on the end, there was enough so that it was secure and i was still able to tighten the bar end bolts.

not very satisfied (aesthetically) with the CRG's. they look kind of cheap being in the same mix as the rizoma grips and cycle cat triple/clips.  and i'm not sure how i feel about having the mirrors positioned above the bar. seems to me they would get in the way at times when reaching for the bar, so i positioned them under the bar and took a nice ride up the canyons (angeles forest hwy) today to see how i like them that way.

this was my first real ride using bar end mirrors and without the mickey mouse ears. it felt strange at first, but once i got used to it, it felt nice. i have noticeably less overall turbulence and noise which is very nice. i have to move my head a bit more and turn my elbow in a little to get a full view of the mirror but i can get used to that.

That looks good! I love the CRG mirrors - best option by far in my opinion.  [thumbsup]
