Woo Hoo.  After an extended lay off (since August), I have accepted a new Region Sales Manager position selling to grocery stores.  This company happens to be headquartered in Italy and I'll be going there in June!  Good luck to those others that are still searching or might get laid off.  It's no fun.  But keep your chin up, stay positive, prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

Now I can afford some bling for my monster, Bella.  Time to celebrate!

Ciao!

Thanks all.

I'm headed to Lucca in northern Italy to visit our HQ.  It's about 1h45m SW from Bologna.  Methinks I'll need to learn some Italian before I go.  Just to be clear, the job is based here (I'll be flying around the western U.S.) selling to supermarkets here (think Safeway, Lucky, Albertsons, Kroger, etc.).  The parent company is based in Italy.  Hopefully this will turn into an annual trip so I can extend the business trips into riding vacations.  Wouldn't that be totally awesome?

You'll have a LOT more fun if you learn italian.

Here's your first lesson, Pronunciation is phonetic:
C's are kind of opposite like this:
Italian = English:
ch = K
ca = Ka
co = KO
cu = kU

c = ch
cc = CH (anything double gets more emphasis: ss = S' )
ci = chEE
ce = che

e = A
i = EE
o = O
u = U
a = ah
, = .  in reference to money: £ 1,35 = $ 1.35

Everything else is the same as English except there are fewer letters. No J, Y, K, or W. And no silent E or silent anything. You say each letter in other words. ou = O,U not oooo. And there are no diphthongs.

You are now ready to speak Italian.   [thumbsup]
