I'm taking the M/C's off my 2000 m750 to freshen up the paint (they've fade pretty badly) and add some Spiegler lines.  Brake side came off no problem, but the clutch side is giving me a problem. The choke lever appears to be connected by two screws, top & bottom, to the M/C. The parts schematic doesn't note this and nothing in the Haynes manual about it either. The only thing LT Synder manual shows is a pic of the 2 (choke lever & M/C) still together off the bike. Am I right in the assumption that the screws hold these together? Thanks in advance.

Indeed the 2 screws fasten the choke to the m/c.  Just undo them and the m/c will come right off.

The bottom one broke loose, but the top is very tight...hit it with a good soaking of PB Blaster and will try again in the morning. Hope that works, cause no way I can heat that baby up and it's way too small a head on it to put an impact driver to it.

No joy on this screw. PB Blaster seemed to make the lever work a bit easier, tho.

I've tried to tighten and then loosen, tap it with a hammer and screw bit. It's just not moving and it's starting to feel like it's slipping a bit. What do you think?

do you have clip-ons? if so just remove the tube and slide the bar out of the assembly

In your picture it looks like the cover is cracked already at the screw, if you drill off the screw head you will be able to remove the choke and then remove the screw with vice grips when it is apart.

No, they're Renthal High Street handlebars. That's a seam in the control housing that looks like a crack. Was trying to stay away from cutting the grips off since i just put them on in Oct, but looks like my only option
