thanks unfortunately my sprag doesn't seem to be disengaging after start up so i believe replacement is the only option.

Did you put it in backwards?

 no i havent installed it yet, i think its smoked or it is a viscosity/temp issue perhaps,besides if it was backwards wouldn't it freewheel on starting?
