696 with Termis and ECU.. .Cold start issues?

So I had Carbon Termis and the ECU installed and my bike does not seem to want to start in the cold at all. Before I had the Termis installed, I can start the bike up no problem without having to use the fast idle switch. And in the event that I have to use the fast idle, I set it halfway for about a minute and it idles just fine after. But with the new ECU installed, it doesn't start without using the fast idle at all, even after having ridden the bike for a bit and leaving it off for like 30 mins. And if it seems like its all good and warmed up, I put it under a little bit of load by slipping the clutch, it shuts off on me and I really have to rev the bike up to get it running.

I also noticed that it idles lower than it did before. It used to idle at about 1100-1300 but now it idles at 900-1000 at normal operating temps. Does anyone else have this problem? It's really getting on my nerves. Is there anything I can do about this myself?

Thanks.

talk to the dealership that installed the ECU, sounds like they didn't adjust it properly

+1 on TPS reset.  I've got Termi's/ECU, no prob w/ cold start.  No need to go to dealer for it.  just cycle the ignition 3 times without starting or touching the fast idle lever.

I had a similar problem but it was not directly related to the termi/ECU install.

The week before I installed the Termi's I removed the charcoal cannister, but as I knew I would be removing the tank the following week I did not bother to join the overflow and vent tubes from the tank together.

During this week she ran like shite, I was even considering putting the cannister back on.  When I fitted the Termi's and had joined the tubes together she was back to normal, well better than normal because the Termi's  and ECU are so good.

So if resetting the TPS does not fix it have a look at the tubes from the tank, they probably were disconnected when the tank was removed.

SS Termis with ECU, no cold start or low idle problem here.

honestly can't see how connecting the tubes or not would fix. the tubes are open. you are only rerouting the vent tube. whether it vents out in front of you or under the bike shouldn't matter.

I do not understand the physics either but if the tubes were not joined together I had problems starting and she ran rough, once I fitted the 'Y' and joined them together all the bad stuff disappeared.

Tank breather and overflow tied together but still vented to atmosphere should have the same effect (none) as being separate on performance, as they are not connected to anything on the engine. Sounds pretty strange to me, as well. Maybe if the vacuum lines from the intake manifolds were not plugged properly, but not the tank lines. Interesting issue.

I got the idle adjusted today. No more cold start issues and she runs like a champ ;D. The tech told me the bike still runs slightly lean even with the Termis and ECU installed and I can definately hear popping noises. They don't have much experience in tuning the new 696 engine and the 2 oxygen sensors isn't making it any easier on them. They old me it's hard to tune with the 2 oxygen sensors and there isn't much they can do in the realm of tuning it. Oh well, Power Commander, here I come!

if you dont have a dyno, try the two brothers juice box. i'm going with it instead of the PC. mine should be here anyday.

So the cold start issues start yet again. This morning, it took me about 15 minutes to get the bike started. It didn't even want to start with the fast idle lever turned all the way up :'(.  I'm going to have it looked at on Friday...

go back over this. do you have the charcoal canister still? are the plugs on the intakes closed off? check for airleaks. sounds like you are getting too much air on cold starts. like a vacuum leak.
