I realize these bikes are in different categories. I'm not sure if I'm gonna sell my Monster or not. My riding habits are usually 20-30 minutes of pure speed. Not many twisties here in S. Florida, but I like gaining maximum acceleration and top speeds on local highways. I've been wanting to do more wheelies. I need more fairings for high speed wind and I do like the hooligan factor. Are there any bikes that I'm not considering that I should? Sorry if i sound too squiddy, but i know ya'll will give me some good feedback, thanks!  ;)

the monster fits your criteria as a second bike. maybe you need a first bike instead.

I say ditch the monster, get a tard and a Daytona

supakpow2

I say ditch the ducati and get a hyabusa..........maybe one with wheelie bars.

there was going to be something humorous here, but, unfortunately, i was in charge of the typing, and this is all i could come up with.

The Hyper doesn't fit your criteria.  The CBR1000 sounds right for your wants.  But, with the new motorcycle laws in Florida combined with the risks of high speed street riding, I would try the track instead.  Try getting on the CDC, they do a lot of track days in FL and can help you get started.  www.coastalducaticlub.org

The GSXR1K is a pretty comfortable bike in general, the ergo's are pretty outstanding, though I quite don't dig the squid buisness.  It isn't good for the public image of motorcyclists.

You forgot to mention the Speed Triple.  Total Hooligan bike, totally fun!! First time I rode one was the first time I wheelied on purpose, and the first time I stoppied on purpose.  Now I'm not saying I condone these things, but that damned Speed Triple is impossible to say no to!!!
Catching a yellow-jacket in your shirt at seventy miles per hour can double your vocabulary.

Monstermonkey

Get a cheap track bike and a dirt bike.  If you're going to put on serious highway miles get a Goldwing.

All I can say is that of the 5 choices, incombination with the riding habits you describe, the CBR, GSXR, and probably the 848 are gonna get you in some trouble.  Comfort wise, I didn't like the Tard and I have never had much confidence in Triumphs reliability (although the bikes look awesome).  But as for your question and the 5 options, I would say get the 848 and park it beside your Monster.  The bike is pretty comfortable, more power then any of us need, and you can still get a good rumble out of the exhaust.   The CBR I rode had a TwoBrothers can under the seat and the sound at 8000 rpms was earpiercing.
