Hey everyone,
i dropped my m400 the other day and the clutch lever. it snapped in half. after i set the bike up and put it back on its stand, all this oil started to leak from different areas.
i started the engine and it runs fine but im scared ive caused alot of damage.
what should i do?

thanks

Dropped how? like in your garage and it fell over or you laid it down at speed. If it just fell over, I do not suspect there is too much damage. With the oil leaks you may need to be more specific. Where and how much? Sometimes you will get seepage from the case halfs. Mine has never been down, but there are areas where you can see residue.

Where are you located?  Maybe post up in your local forum and see if there is someone nearby who could take a look at it.

I dropped it while it was in stationary mode, so it was just sitting there. i forgot that i left it in 1st gear and started the engine which jolted the bike forward than went crashing to its side. stupid i know.
there was alot of oil leaking from the bike.
the bike still runs but the clutch lever snapped in half. is this easily fixable?
the main concern is the oil leakage though...
i opened up the shell and checked to see if there was anything wrong with the battery or anything, and i discovered that there were two wires connected to the fuel tank and it runs down to the right side of the bike where the oil is leaking from, and the wire that connects to the fuel tank has been split and im not sure if it was from the impact or not.

the left hand side of the bike was leaking aswell and im not sure where it was leaking from cos it was all over the engine.
thanks.

I think a picture is worth a thousand words. Plus any thoughts on how the bike landed. What stopped the forward movement? The engine case? Any obvious markings on the frame or engine to tell you what sort of inertia took place on what part of the bike. Were there any obstacles that "helped" the bike stop. If anything caught the engine case or frame or just the way it fell could have compromised a seal, hence any oil pressure in the bike pushes oil out the avenue of least resistance. When this happens, you are not oiling your top end. So the bike is NOT running fine if you lose oil pressure in the circuit. I personally would not run a bike that is losing oil, unless it was obvious that is was just seeping and then only to limp back to a safe zone for extraction. MEDIC! MEDIC!

Pics would be helpful. as for the clutch lever, yes it is an easy fix. some people actually are able to weld them back together. Best option is to find some one on the board who has replaced theirs with an after market one and buy their old stocker. Just by your explanation of the amount of oil, I would say you need to have some one take a look at it. 2 sets of eyes are better then 1. It sounds as thought the bike did not build up any speed so I would think that the damage is minimal. I believe that the wires are for the low fuel gauge. I suggest you wipe down all the excess oil get it good and clean. Then make sure your oil level is ok. Next, I would start it up and let it run for 30 seconds or so and see if you can define where the oil is starting from. Hopefully you just jarred the case lose and you can tighten it back up. Keep us posted

Perhaps there is a bit of a loss in translation... if I remember correctly, the m400's were mostly sold in japan.

When you say oil... do you mean gasoline? Petrol?  It reads like you are saying there is oil leaking from the fuel tank...

I was thinking the same thing.  Perhaps its not a wire but a hose, like the overflow/breather hose which would probably drip some gas after a bikes been tipped over.  Photos?

Also, how long did the bike sit on its side, and have you removed your emission stuff, charchoal canister, etc., oil can leak from the crankcase breather.

Also, if it was on its side for a long time, oil can also wind its up around the rings and leak out into the exhaust or carbs, and then even out through the carbs. In this case you'd likely find oil in your exhaust cans and airbox though.

Since you said it was leaking off of the top of the motor, I would assume the breather is most likely the culpret, especially if you have removed the emissions crap and left a simple filter there.
