Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've searched around and haven't really uncovered the answers I'm looking for...

Due to some J-hole that never learned to parallel park, the glass on my '07 S2R 1000's gauge cluster is now cracked.  I'm looking to replace the unit, but hoping to avoid shelling out the cash for the new OEM part through my dealer. That said, I'm wary of various immobilizer/compatibility issues, and am in need of guidance....

Questions:

I realize new (unpaired w/ red key) gauges are the ideal find, but if I have all my keys (red included), can I reprogram a used gauge cluster to play friendly with my ECU? Or do I need to look at purchasing gauges, ECU, and locks all together?  My ECU is virgin.

What, if any, gauges from other models will work on my bike?  I'm told that 2007/2008 S2R 800 and S4R gauges will work, but am curious whether, say, gauges from an '06 620 would work?

Also, have looked into both the Vapor and Veypor digital gauges, but am worried these might be a nightmare to work with b/c of immobilizer issues?

VERY APPRECIATIVE of any helpful thoughts on getting my bike back on the road!!!

Id mcgyver that shit. you can split them open, get a knife and carve that make the beast with two backser out replace it and glue the thing in place.

im still waiting on some LEDs so i will be cracking my gauge open soon...
