Resetting M696 service indicator ?

Does anybody know how to reset the M696 service indicator... because my dealer does NOT!  [laugh]

AFAIK, it requires using the Mathesis or similar electronic diagnostic equipment.

Perhaps another dealer?

Just received a call from my dealer: DDS Tester needed... and their DDS Tester needs a SW upgrade, takes a week or two.  [coffee]

so if you do your own maintenance or it gets triggered after you leave the dealer... you're outa luck???

Yup.  Doesn't take long tho.  I stopped back at the dealer after mine came on after my 600 mile service and it took them all of maybe 15 minutes to turn it off.

Can this be done w/o going to the dealer?  What hardware / software does a home mechanic needs?
