ADIGE APTC clutch for S4Rs....anyone with opinion on it?

A lower-end version comes standard on the lower-end Ducatis with the wet clutch. I have an S2R800 and I don't remember ever feeling it work, but I am good to rev match when downshifting as a matter of course. My rear wheel did hop around once when downshifting over some wet leaves a long time ago. I'll never forget the experience. I think the one for the dry clutchers might work a lot better than the ones found on the wet clutch bikes, but I haven't a clue. Since it's made for NCR I'd hazard a guess that it's a good piece of kit. Is it cheaper than the Yoyodyne, STM, or DP slipper clutches?

No, not really. A bit more costly, however it is the same one used by the wet clutch Ducati slippers and was developed in cooperation w/Ducati.

Late 620s and 695s have the APTC clutch, the 800 does not.

I know the race guys use slipper clutches, but why do you feel a need for one on the street?   I don't know anyone that has a problem locking the wheel going into turns on the street.

Maybe I should wait awhile.  I like to ride smart but hard on nice twisty stuff.  I have a Harley (don't laugh)  that has front and rear 3 way adjustable sport suspension, 110.1HP/121.0TQ (went from 88 to 103CI) and it locks up w/o hesitation.  The S4Rs has more HP (149.7 @ crank) but less TQ and overall weight (375 vs 618lb).  So it may not be an issue at all.  I do however plan on taking it to the track occasionally.

i did it yesterday. slow twisties, made a mistake and downshifted into 1st. thought i was in third. glad i had the wet slipper of the 696.

Exactly why one would add a slipper if one didn't have one to start with. Those "OH SHIT" moments! Nothing like having one less thing to manage when you have that moment.  [thumbsup]

I had been doing research and alot of the "experts" had suggested it was good for novices (like me) for those "OH SHIT" moments and pros on the track to safely come into tight corners hard and power out equally so.  This particullar model was developed w/Ducati and I thought it might be a good choice.  Also I may have been relating my experiences I had w/my semi-sporty Harley that has almost twice the torque but only 2/3's the HP of my S4Rs-.  The HD locks up just downshifting one gear if I'm coming in a "little warm" to a corner and that may just be poor technique on my part.  It may turn out that I don't need one....however I am sure I will have more than one "OH SHIT" moment.  My bike was delivered the day after the big ice storm we had here in TX and although it appeared melted away....I hit some black ice and had it sideways in the first 200 yards....that was the first of what will be MANY "OH SHIT" moments.  ;D

And there are so many other factors involved. Critters, gravel, fluids, ice(well not in my part of the riding world) and fatigue are just a few that come to mind. Yeah you could get around having a slipper with properly executed downshifts everytime, but to me it is like a steering damper. Better to have it when (not IF) the moment happens than not, cuz it will happen. If you ride it, it will happen....eventually.  [cheeky]

Yeah, that's what my manuals say as well. The Ducati website stated the same thing way back when, when they were still made for sale. ALL the later wet clutch bikes had them. Guess that explains that.  [roll] [clap]
