I've always wondered how much cooling that little cooler actually helps.  Doesn't seem like it would provide a ton of cooling considering it's size, but I could be wrong.

My 600ss came with no cooler, but has the tap locations for it (same crankcase as the 620).  I used a dipstick thermometer and got a peak of 220 after riding around the beltway on an 80 degree day.  I put a SMALL oil cooler on it, made by Setrab and did the same track and got a peak of 190.  This cooler has about a 0.1 L capacity and I think the factory coolers have a 0.3 L..  Setrab states the small ones have about a 6500-9000 btu/hr cooling capacity.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

my 750 dark has an oil cooler. are these standard on 750 or was it added by the bike's previous owner?

750s had them factory

everything over 700cc seems to have them.

The oil coolers only help marginally. They're better than nothing but they need wind blowing through them. In stop & go traffic the benefit is miniscule. A friend & I installed one on his 620 a couple of years ago thinking it would help cooling a lot more than it really did. The ambient air temperature has a far greater effect on the cooling than the oil cooler does.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.
