*** Not cop bashing, just felt bad for this guy...
Around 10:45am today I was driving my pickup from Simi down to Agoura. I was at a light on First st and L.A. Ave when a red 1098 pulls up on my right to turn right. I roll down my window just to listen. he sees me, I give him the "throttle twist" and he treats me to a coupla revs. Bike sounds nice, not too loud, just right. He turns right, I go straight and I'm thinking that's it and I'm going to post up on "sightings."
Somehow, a few minutes later, I see him behind me queuing (sp?) up to another light with three left turn lanes. I'm in the far left, he's in the far right. For the record, he's in full leathers, helmet, gloves, riding pretty conservatively, not weaving in and out or anything dumb.
I'm actually in a bit of a rush, and as the light turns I take off, but get stuck behing a camper trailer. I see in my mirror he's behind me, maybe ten car lengths, so I signal, pass the trailer and continue on (maybe a wee bit above the posted 50mph limit). As I slow for the next light, he comes up on my left, I give him the "rock On" and then stop behind a car, he's at the head of the line just ahead of me.
Next thing I see is a moto cop splitting up tto the light FAST. He pulls right up to the 1098's wheel and as soon as the light turns, flashes him and pulls him over.
I feel bad for this guy, because it seemed he got pulled for just being on a bike. I must have gone by the cop first, and was definately moving a bit quicker than the 1098 at that point. It just bugs me when bikes seem to be singled out. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but, I don't know.. I don't get it...
I just feel bad for the guy...
...cant figure out why the cop pulled him.
