Where to mount the switch for heated grips?

Hey for those of you with heated grips, where did you mount the switch?  I'm trying to figure out where to stash mine so it's not too visible, but I can still reach it.  With no fairings on this bike, there aren't too many places that wouldn't look like a mess.  Any brilliant ideas?!   [beer]

MrIncredible mounted the switch for mine on the left side of the instrument cluster.  This involved making a small hole in the plastic and epoxying it in to seal it.

Hey that's not a bad idea!  That's the same switch I'm trying to mount as well.  Thanks!

I think this might be a good place to look.......

Thanks, I read through that one too, but I think the switch I had is quite a bit larger than that one!  It's the round plastic one like in the pictures above

I had it mounted elsewhere originally, however the wifey was not comfy fumbling about around the motor looking for the switch while riding, and going from highway to non gave one grips that were too warm. I figured that would be visible yet unobtrusive.

It was a fairly simple mod, but if you're going to try it let me know. I have some tips that would help.

Oh yeah you guys are right, it is in that other thread.  I didn't read the whole thing  [bang]

Anyway mounting it on the gauges is pretty slick but I'm not sure if I want to cut a hole in it!

Another spot I was thinking is this: I have a Sargent seat and no side covers, so there's a ~1" vertical gap between the bottom of the seat and the frame.  Maybe I could tuck it in there so I could reach back behind my but with my left hand and reach the switch.  I'd have to make a little bracket and use one of the bolt holes already under the seat I guess.  But that way it would be pretty invisible and I wouldn't have to really modify anything to mount it!

I have a 1995 M900, so your bike might be different. However, I threw out that big round switch and found a small three way switch at Radio Shack for about $3. I drilled a small hole in the plastic that surrounds the key. I don't have any keys attached to my bike key, so it doesn't get turned on by accident, and it was really easy to snake the wires to hook up to the headlight feed so I can't accidentally leave the grips on. Oh, and left means low.

I don't have a pic right now, but hopefully this makes sense. And, yes, it works perfectly!
