Has anyone worked out a straightforward way to check if a monster frame is straight? Or should I take it to a "frame guy"
Visually it looks okay but I want to be sure before I start planning the rebuild.

Thanks.

The factory manual has measuring points, and with much care you could sort it out with plumb lines and a measuring tape.  If I had my druthers though, I would send it to a reputable frame shop.  I have 2006 frame specs if you want.

I think I'll check it myself. If any inconsistencies arise me and my druthers will take the frame to a pro.

One by DMF post, one by PM, one by Email.  I hope one of these is good enough.  Yeah, i know, it's upside down.  Print it and turn it around.

Plumb the rear tire. Run a string around the rear tire, just touching the leading edge of the tire and pull it forward past the front wheel. Measure the distance on each side of the tire to the string and then check the plumb. You can reshim the rear swingarm to make minor alignment changes and then realign the front sprocket to the rear one. If the front wheel isn't plumb with the rear when both are in alignment, you're screwed and need frame work.

Somebody has done this before. Thanks Norm.  [thumbsup]
