With the stock plate on it didn't seem to make as much noise as it does now but the noise is only when i pull in the clutch lever, when its rotating in neutral it sounds just fine...clank, clank, clank, but as soon is i pull in the lever it sounds a like a higher pitched metalicy whine, really loud, almost louder than the pipes...

I rode the bike after is was done and the clutch disengages just fine, i can shift just fine too... Everything seems to work as it should its just noisier now when you pull in the clutch? My plates looked pretty beat up too, by the way, the friction material was pretty smooth and the 12 notches looked like Ts, probably 2 to 4 mm of space between the teeth and the basket, plus the basket looks like a serrated knife, so this was already causing some noise but it wasn't so high pitched, does this mean i should look into a new pack and basket?, any advice would be great, thanks

You can rough up the frictions with some coarse sand paper for now and use a file to get rid of the T.

Not sure what the sound is though. Perhaps check your throw out bearing that is in the middle of the pressure plate. If it is frozen it could be causing friction and result in the noise you're hearing.

I have discovered what this sound is in case you were curious...it is the sound of the plates rattling all to hell, the gap is large and i guess when i pull in the lever it allows them rattle allot more, sounds like a bunch of beebies inside a glass jar... so am going to replace the plates and basket.... thanks for the help, the throwout bearing was fine too.. spunn like butter....
