Getting the KTM ready to tour and find far off dirt and pavement to ride on :D

Thought Id throw up a couple shots of the SMR with the rack and bags I got for it.

I also added heated grip inserts and built a little dash to mount the switch on. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I may build another one with a different shape.

I was looking to buy one of those before I bought the S4.   They just wanted a bit more than I wanted to spend.  Maybe next time though.

Got it used for $8300 ~ 489 miles on the clock ;D

There's a regular SM on ebay right now with a BIN of $7400 I think.  I think that's a decent deal.

Love those things.  You could use a set of Akrapovics though - not only for sound either.  Take those stock cans/cat converters off and weigh them.  Jebus, they weigh a million pounds at least.

The SM is one of the best handling bikes I've seen and excellent tourers too. [thumbsup]

They put power down in a way that makes em accelerate and feel more powerful than the numbers would indicate too.

Keep safe and enjoy the tour.

I don't even know what the hp or tq numbers are but they're enough.

This bike is a rocket.  Very easy to ride to half throttle, after that, hang on cause the freight train's a comin'!

No wonder all those KTM pics show these bikes with the front lofted.  KTM front wheels seem to be made of anti-gravity aluminum [laugh]

The akro is nice stuff, but damn is it expensive.  I just don't care enough to spend close to a thousand dollars on pipes to save 15 pounds and make more noise.

I like that I can hammer it and cops 2 miles away don't know I'm hammering on it ;D

It's a strange bike to ride at first.  Really, this is what I was always wanting my M900 to be like as far has power and handling.  KTM got it right for sure.  What was weird for me was how fun it was riding it like a sport bike (hang off), but then how much better it go once you slid forward and loaded up that front wheel!  Strange to feel like my rear tire was 5' behind me but damn does that riding position work well on that bike.

I still can't figure out which way I like to ride it (i have 0 dirt experience so it doesn't come natural to me to be up the tank that far)
