eh it was ok
if you buy the book and practice in an open parking lot its the same thing really.
I already knew everything going in ,my problem is I need to keep my head turned and learn to trust the tires and bike when leaned over.
was hard to do when one person in the class went down riding around the cones
gonna take a track day with them, I think I will enjoy that
I worry to much about debris, cars, deer etc etc

Were you involved in a bad accident or something?

not terrible but yea I was cut of on my old 695, went flying at around 30 mph, I was sore for a few weeks but ok..
ever since then im not leaning like i should, im terrified of blind corners..., I know what I have to do, keep my head turned, look thru the turn stop "fifty pencing" its just a matter of doing it.

Sorry to hear that. It's a little disheartening to hear from someone that's sort of on the downside of the motorcycle enthusiasm curve while I'm trying to get further upward.
I did however commute for the first time on my bike (the intended purpose of my Monster) and I was pretty horrified about how treacherous that particular journey is in the morning. I might find myself just doing weekend/discretionary riding instead. I am still very enthusiastic about it all though and anytime I ride outside of commuting I have a blast.
I will checking out the Total Control book as well, but perhaps not the course...

Don't write off the course because of one person's review. I had a very experienced friend (7+ years riding IIRC) go to the class and loved it. It made a big difference in his form and he felt it was well worth it. You'll also learn how to set up your suspension.
Some people are able to learn from books as TNGB suggested, for other people it's *much* easier to have someone there to answer questions when you're learning new things or, more tricky than that, un-learning old habits.
(edit: changed from re-learning to un-learning)

You'll never learn as much from a book as you can from a hands on course. It's really money well spent. But you have to just focus on what you're doing and not worry about the mistakes that anyone else makes. Building confidence on a motorcycle isn't always an easy thing to do, but with time and practice, you'll make gradual achievements.
Being in an accident is trying and can certainly hurt your confidence. I had a similar accident at about the same speed. My helmet took about 90% of the impact as I came down. Fortunately though, I rode my bike home afterwards and I think that's why I didn't have any sort of negative reaction to riding. My level of awareness is certainly higher now though. You just have to get back on it and (excuse the cliche) over come your fears.
TC is a really great experience as long as you take the course with an open mind. The book is really great to have to support what you leaned in class.

Don't beat yourself up too badly, it takes time to recover and "loosen-up" from an accident. You'll get back there in your own due time, and then retake the course.
