Hi All!

Remeber that old adage about God opening a window when He closes a door?  Recently got into an accident with my S2R 800.   My fault.  I take the bike to the shop for repairs.  My dealer tells me a customer has just returned a new (1600 kms) 1100S with termis.  We all know where this is going.  I extend my credit to the breaking point , trade in the S2R and purchase said 1100S.

I now need a little help.  The riding position is a little more forward and I am starting to get use to that (although not quite there yet).  The more troubling issue I am having is when cornering the back wheel feels like it is stepping out.  I am guessing I am not use to the massive torque and giving the bike too much throttle.  Any thoughts?  If it is not the throttle any thoughts and suggested remedies would be worth a beer when you are in my neck of the woods.

The bike throws off alot more heat in traffic than the S2R.  I am guessing not much can be done about that but if I am wrong let me know.

Clutch is dry so I am not use to the pull.  Putting in a clutch slave to ease my problems in that regard.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks

First let me offer my responsible old-guy take. Don't finance toys. Lot's can be said on this, I won't repeat it here. Assuming that the dollars are in line for you...

I cannot speak to the 1100M specifically although I have test ridden it. I ride a S2R1K daily so it should be comparable for the sake of this conversation. If you have been riding for a while and really throw around your 800, stepping up to the bigger motor could very well be stepping out your back end. It is also possible that the suspension setup was not correct on the M1100, or some combination of the two.

Adding a slave will make the pull easy. It took me a while to get used to the "heavy" clutch, but once I did, I really like the response you get with it. If you like it, step up to the new bike, it is fantastic. If you feel like you still have more learning you can do with your existing bike? Tough call...

I wouldn't be surprised if the bike's just stepping out if you're getting on the throttle like it was still the 800. try and take it easy, so you can get used to the new mill...

and I never understood that adage... am I to jump out that window? or just look at the pretties while I'm stuck in a room?  ;)

The heat has to do with the placement of the header on the new Monsters.  It no longer runs below the engine so you feel the heat a lot more than on older bikes.  If you think it's bad go ride a 749/999.

As for the fix I saw a pic of full system for the 1100 and the header was below the engine.  That would probably help reduce the heat......
