Does anyone know how to change the setting back to MPH?

I looked through the entire owner's manual and could not find instructions.

I have a 2009 Monster 696

696? found this on another board, you might give it a try.

push the two buttons with the engine off. turn the key while holding the 2 button pressed. wait about 5 seconds, miles screen should display "OFF." release the buttons and press the upper one to set "USA" for miles, "EU" for kilometers. to validate the settings press the 2 buttons 5 seconds, and turn off the key.

good luck!

Thank you !!!! I will give it try tonight when I get home from work.

if that doesnt work, keep your eyes open. i think there was a similar discussion on the board not to long ago. if i recall, it was about resetting the maint. indicator, but might have covered the mhp/khp question as well.

Hey, I too have an M696 and my speedo has read nothing but kilometres since day one.  I've ridden it like that for the last 5500 kilometres!!  I dont find it a problem at all.  Just get your government to replace all the road signs with metric ones and it'll all fall into place  [laugh] ;)

I mean c'mon.... who thought miles was a good idea???  "one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight........ one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine..... one thousand seven hundred and sixty...... oh bugger it, that'll do..... lets stop here and call this a mile".....

I know...... I'm just full of helpful advice....  ;)

Special settings (vehicle model and units of measurement)
This function allows you to select the units of measurement displayed on the instrument panel.
The ECU automatically communicates to the instrument panel the motorcycle model and the units of measurement to be used on the display: to change these parameters, go into the “Service Menu ” and select the “UNIT SET” function. Now press switch (1) in position B “t” for 3 seconds.
Each time you press switch (1) in position B “t”, the instrument panel scrolls through the following sequence of options, which flash on the display:

The instrument configures the unit of measurement parameters in accordance with information relayed from the ECU
If you press switch (1) in position B “t” for 3 seconds, the option currently displayed will be saved to memory and the word “MEM” will appear. The new parameter setting will applied at the next Key-On.

hey Raux, if you have the answer to this, would you consider posting the moving the thread/solution over to the FAQ/HOW TO section?
