Posted this bike in "Monsters for sale" over on the other forum.. surprized how little interest it's generating.

Am I asking too much? (..$4k for an nearly museum quality bike?).. because I'm not an active poster? (..longtime lurker, not a poster though).

Just took these photos this morning.  I'd rather not go through the hassle of consigning the bike (my favorite Ducati shop in the Nashville area went under anyway)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all

Well might be bad timing on your part.. with the upset in the info flow that the VS change on ToB represented and this board still cutting it's teeth - people don't know quite where to look all the time.

What I like to see in any sale:
- Photos.  Lots of nice photos.  Besides showing me the item, if the seller takes the time to shoot a slew of quality photos, it tells me they are proud of the item they are selling, and probably have taken care of it.
- A good, clear description.  Same gist as the photos - if there's a lot of typos, poor spelling/grammer, ALL CAPS and crap like that, it gives me the feeling that the seller doesn't care that much.  If they don't care enough to spell check their ad, then what the hell did they do to the bike/other item.
- additional info.  If you've kept all the service records/receipts.  Note items like that, it ties into the above.

Other thoughts
Widen your reach.  Things like craigslist, local want ads, even the kitchen at work might get you that sale.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

It is actually a very nice bike, if I were in the market for a bike, I would be giving you a call.

Thank YUU for the input.  (couldn't help m'self.. I crack me up!)

Guess I need to list specifics more completely (tach added, list all the carbon fiber, tires have less than 300mi, etc).  Prolly being impatient as well, only been listed over the weekend.  Just figured that much bike, that clean, this time of year, for this little money would go in a flash.  DOH!

The major dealer in Nashville emailed me this morning about consignment.  'Long as I don't have to deal w/ fleabay I'll be happy.

Thanks again

;)

..look at that chain, clean enough to eat off of.  Rode w/ a bunch of chain maintenance fanatics.. 1st thing they'd look at when you rode up was yer chain!  ..what a PITA!

Yep - adding info like that Tach, how new the tires are, the termis etc are all + points that will help you get a sale.  Also, if that's an S model be sure to note that.  If it's not, call out that you've got an aluminum swing arm since not all 900 monster have that.

Danny, I saw your bike on the other board and was very interested..... I just am not in a place to buy it yet, but I plan on having a monster this August or September... maybe earlier, but not much.  And its killing me cause I live in freaking Knoxville, and you are so close to me with such a sweet bike. Hopefully you get that thing sold by the time im in the market for one, but if not, I'll be giving you a call.  [thumbsup] [moto]

Thank you Danny, and wish you good luck selling your bike..!

Why are you selling such beauty any way, if you don't mind me asking?

Don't want to get too maudlin here, but I'm getting old.. and feelin older.  Bike belonged to a good friend & my primary riding buddy (Nashville Ducati Club pres) who passed away suddenly a couple of years ago.  Couldn't stand the thought of a stranger on my bud's bike, bought it from his wife.  Live out in the boonies, don't enjoy heading out alone too much.. (too many bubbas with their pick-ups in your lane), nobody left to call for those Sunday morning low level formation flights.

Kinda morbid to keep his bike on stands under wraps in the garage.  Struck me a couple of weekends ago (as I was pulling the cover off for another 20min ride to get it up to temp) that I needed to find somebody who would appreciate this kind of pampered Monster.

Get the wife off my back too.   [roll]

Getting bluesey just thinkin about it all again.  This one need to go to somebody with less "history".

I understand.. It is a good bike and it looks like it is in really good condition too.. !!   Good luck Dunny, I am sure who ever is lucky to buy the bike, will give it the good care you are looking for her...   ;)

A bargain it ain't but it ain't a bargain either.  Nice bike, fair price for such a nice specimen.
