I need to know where the fuel relay switch is located on a 06 s2r 800. Heres the story bike was running fine then started to cut out like it was out of gas. pulled in to gas station filled up realized it only took a gallon. Stopped ate lunch took off and it would not rev over 2500. called for a ride and put it in the garage. tried to start it the next day same as before. then it shot a flame out the ass and died. Now when i try to start it I don't hear the pump or any thing. I thought I would try and replace the fuel relay switch before I take it to the dealer and pull my pants down. But I will tell you the truth I cant find where to stick the new one to see if that is the problem if you know where it goes let me know please thanks.

There are 2 relays mounted on the left side of the battery tray.
I'm not sure which of the two it is.
Try swapping them.

Might want to check fuses too, before you buy a relay.

I don't know which is which either, but they are both standard 4 prong relays.

To test the relays:
Disconnect the relay.  Power contacts 86 and 85 (small contacts) . The electric magnet should click.  Connect an ohmmeter to contacts 30 and 87 (large contacts) to check for electric continuity

To bypass the relays:
Disconnect the relay.  Run a jumper wire between terminal 37 and terminal 87.  Do keep in mind you have p bypassed the control circuit for that relay.

Relays are good checked all fuses before I ever posted. Next step remove fuel pump and test. Thank god I have a uncle who works on bikes and rails. One thing I have to ask noticed neutral light is always on could that be part of the problem ?

... not if its supposed to be in neutral ... ;) (that's the green light, right? not the yellow engine / ecu light?)

recheck the fuses; especially the fuel pump fuse .... hummm intresting problem-o; check all the wires; grounding; neutral wire goes in the back of the engine ....

...Oh check to see thet your battery is fully charged; funny things happen when the battery gets low ...

Check the ground screw connection on the ECU.  The ground is below the ECU on the little frame that holds the ECU (right side of the battery tray).  I have an S4R, but I believe the location is the same on an S2R.

I had the fuel-injection ignition relay pack up on me a few days ago, bike quit 4 times during a 15 mile ride, twice in town centre traffic, a failed relay can be an intermittent fault.

Don't worry about what relays the main relay or injector-ignition one, just change them both, they have a finite life and it's not long?  They are cheap to buy.  I broke my buggerd relay open and noted that the contacts were carboned up, cost me £12 for 2 replacements.

I have seriuos problems. The bike won't recognize my keys. Won't turn over. Won't prime fuel pump. I down loaded a service manuel and tried to redo the keys cause I kept getting three flashes saying it could not recognize them. But as far as I can tell The bike is not immobilized cause the light still flashes and manuel says it will flash for twenty four hours then stops and bike wont start but mine has flashed for a couple months. And when I go to recode the keys I can't get it to begin the countdown. It's time to take it to the shop. Oh and I tried the emergency procedure to by pass the immobilizer but it won't recognize the keys. Now if it stopped recognizing the keys should ducati pick up the cost even if it's out of warranty, How can that be normal wear and tear on my part.  Thanks for all your suggestions but I have to take it in the ass at ninety dollars an hour. Thats the part that kills me the most. Does any one in southern california have any experience with the ducati dealership in brea on lambert. I have not had good experiences with a few ducati servise shops.

woppini

Are you using the red key for the relearn procedure?

kaiser552

Took it to the shop and they said a couple hours to find out what the computer thought was wrong and even it can't figure it out. They had to call tech support in italy For help. I just hope Ducati picks up the bill since it happened one month after my warranty ran out. When they find out whats up I  will let you all know.

Main fuse was cracked but So cal ducati replaced dash and racked up some labor on me about 1000.00 total I got home and started thinking about it and decided to see if i put old dash back on would the bike run and ofcourse it did. The problem was they found the fuse after they replaced all the parts and it did not cross their mind that I did not need a new dash and keys recoded. They also said the dash was bad cause they could hear something rattling around inside so I took it apart and found the tiny little piece of plastic I mean red ant sized tab of plastic that does nothing or has no function what so ever. In the end they swear up and down they did not try to screw me and returned all my money But they did charge me for the fuse and some labor. I hate that dealer ship And highly recommend going some where else. I ride and sell horses for a living and I could figure out that if the fuse was broken and you found that after a thousand dollars in replacment parts and labor maybe the only problem was the fuse. But once again they swear it was just a mistake. They even had the district trouble shooter guy come out and try and figure out what the problem was. In my opinion they tried to f me and get my money nobody that works on bikes can be that clueless. Two thumbs down to ducati in brea off lambert.

I hate to tell you this, but its not the dealer's fault.
You told US in a previous post that YOU checked all the fuses, and they were fine.
Chances are, you probably told the dealer the same, so they took your word for it.

They ordered a new part for your bike, and installed it, and since that didn't resolve the issue, they started from the beginning, and then tracked down the bad fuse.

Not their fault.
You're lucky you got your money back from them.
They didn't try to cheat you from anything you have written.
