Arai Helmets

What's with the cover plates for the shield mechanism on Arai helmets?...my helmet is less than a year old and well cared for, I replaced one cracked plate about two months ago and I'm going to have to do it again...if it was just cosmetic I woudn't mind, but when the plate cracks it won't hold the shield properly, and it becomes "untracked" and won't move up and down properly...

Those hats don't fit my head so that doesn't bother me but for the big bucks you pay for them you'd think that stuff would be sorted.
