I did six months working at the Anchorage waste water plant installing new automated bar grates. ( don't ask what they are, you really really don't want to know  [puke] )

After that job I don't whine about work, no matter how bad it gets I KNOW it could be worse. ;)
A conclusion is the place you got tired of thinking

you doctors and lawyers and cops and painters and business owners just don't understand the true horrors of uniformed employment.

Last I checked I have to wear the same thing as all the guys I work with. I believe this is what's know as ...a uniform.  :)

GAAN

we all know about you cops

don't try and hide it

we know you get foot rubs by latin strippers every 4hrs

and firemen are worse, they don't even bother to hide the pole

we lowly ambulance drivers only have our contraband socks

life is rough

Now

let's talk about the real us vs. them issues

the real brick between labor and management

where to pooh

management gets a nice clean and well stocked shitter

we get the local shell station

Good grief.  All this over some socks.

I have done concrete work on a hog farm, mowed lawns in the heat of summer, literally risked life and limb in in a sawmill.  All while making about 10 bucks an hour.  I've held a baby in my hands that was so malnourished he died the next day.  Nothing we could do about it.

Give the socks a rest.  If the worst thing you have to pregnant dog about is someone's wife complaining about your socks, sucks to be you.

Now I'll put on my Mr. Obvious hat.  Management screws up.  Union workers screw up.  Non-union workers screw up.  People in general screw up.  That the driver felt strongly enough about his socks to complain to a customer is unprofessional.  That the Manager had is wife checking up on his workers may also be unprofessional.  That the Fedex driver ran off without making certain that your wife got the package was unprofessional.

Be responsible for your actions.  Take the lesson and when presented with a similar option, buy the "socks".  There are things we all dislike about our jobs.  I now have to by suits and have my shoes polished.  I also can't have facial hair.  I hate all of this about my job, but it provides a comfortable living for my family.  So I buy the "socks".  And I recognize that to not do so may hurt my career.

easy mang

we moved on from socks to shaking hands with the mayor

suits you say?

do you get to pooh whenever you want?

Statler

easy solution...he should switch positions so the manager's wife isn't staring at his socks for half an hour over lunch break.   And buy her more jewelry.   Now she won't notice or tell.
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

If it were me, I'd get UPS logo "socks" tattooed on my ankles. Those should last.

I've heard a lotta bad things about UPS, but I gotta say, my UPS driver is really nice. He even remembered that I have a monster when I was waiting for him to deliver my brakes today.  [thumbsup]
