Again,
Thanks for all of the responses.... OK OK it kinda is not anyone's business but seeing as you were all so helpful
The bike after all of my negotiating is going for $10.5k with no set up or freight costs...
All in all I think it is a pretty good deal seeing as 2006 S4R's seem to be going for sale in the 9K range used...
As for color... The dealer has to 2006 monsters left... The S4R in red, and a S21000 in Silver black.  They have agreed to swap over the silver and black bits onto the S4R for me....
Thoughts?

Cool, especially on the parts swap.

may not be our business, but i sure would appreciate others knowledgeable (and nothing to gain) input when getting ready to spend that kind of money.

anyway...to put it in perspective,
that is the same price i paid OTD for my 06 s2r1000.
you are getting about 3500 off (06/07) msrp.
if you can get the dealer to do the belts and change the oil, so much the better.

however, if you are willing to consider used, you can get a MUCH better deal. there are several 07 s4r (even an s4r-t i think) for sale here in the classified section, starting at around 7k.
thats a 3500 savings over what the dealer is offering.

not saying that used is for you, or that you can purchase private (vs. financing at the dealer.) just tossing out information.

good luck in your decision!

edit: as far as the parts swap goes...double check and make sure that the 2v tank will fit on the 4v engine. this is important because not all tanks and bikes (2 or 4v) are compatible. I cant remember off hand, but there is a thread here in the tech section titled "all about fuel tanks" the information is there for the finding. (or someone else chime in if you can remember)

I can't speak to the suspension setup, I'm 6'2" and 200lbs, so my setup is different than yours. He-man or Somegirl can probably help you.

Regarding the suspension - have someone who know's how set it for you.  The good news is, at your weight you should be quick happy with the stock springs.  Us more fluffy riders usually need different springs and or thicker fork oil.

I agree with yuu, in fact the stock setup should be pretty close for his weight.  Just find someone experienced in suspension to do it for you, have your typical gear on when they do it.  Should be pretty quick to do.

krolik & herm nailed it.

Paint swap?...works.

Prices... well, it's kind of all over the place.  Everytime a new model comes out, buyers...and sellers think ""IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD". As Herm pretty much pointed out, buy what you want, bikes are everywhere .   If you want a new bike, and you love this one... Go get it !

Suspension: They will be able to set it up for your weight for sure.  If you go for a new bike they will get it close, then ask you to come back for a full setup at your first service.  Gear (would be good) or not, It won't be their first time to do this, Trust them, and ask questions about fine tuning.

my only problem with the new monster red frame.. is it's only half the frame. feel the same way about the HM with red frame and black or silver subframes. yuck. make it all red.

LokE spits on insults Evil  Wink

I love the grey ("titanium") S4R body work on it's red frame.
I love the silver S2R 1000 body work on it's black frame.
I don't mind the silver/red M1100.
I don't think silver S2R 1000 body parts would look very good on a red S4R

That's all waytogo

Will it look like this? Or will it have silver bodywork with black stripes?

The S2R is silver with a black stripe. I agree it would not look good on a red frame.
I would get the S2R1000 myself.
