Nice work,but the only thing is you can hardly see the inside,that's the whole purpose of it right?show them belts.

The whole reason I changed my belt cover apperance was to get rid of the horrible gray color. Being able to see the belts was a bonus

Here is how mine turned out.  Looking at yours, I wish I would have painted the hyperscreen black.  Good Job.

I like how yours turned out better. That screen looks amazing. That looks better unpainted.

Finally got around doing my belt covers! They were the ugly gray ones....

I first cut them with my handisaw in the shape i wanted (simple, nothing fancy), filed and sanded it down to make the edges smooth then cleaned very well. Sanded with a medium grit sandpaper and applied a coat of plastic primer. i chose to use the Duplicolor high temperature spray paint and applied 2 nice light coats to it, up to then the coats were perfect but when I did the third coat, the paint was coming out flaky and left the surface rough. I ended up having to wet sand it with a 600 grit paper and repainted with a Rust-Oleum medium gloss paint.

Also ordered a TPO honeycomb screen and cut it to shape and attached it to the cover using Gorilla brand epoxy. Used a blow dryer to cure it and not it is tough as nails!

Installed the covers on the bike yesterday and couldn't help but smile! It made the bike look cool and meaner, costing me around $20!!! This is my first mod ever and I'm very happy with the results! Check it out:

You were joking right? I've had those for quite some time (especially since the pic was taken 15 months ago). I know you've seen them before, especially if you've ever been to Mark's website. Those are the prototype S2R1000 BoomTubes...

nope, i wasn't joking.  i am just out of the loop.

i only recently saw the website -- "boom tube" is a generic term, i assumed that was just someone's slang.    there used to be a brand of VW exhaust called "Boom Tubes"..

I got the red zip ties from the local auto parts store.  While redoing it, I wound up completely removing all but about 2.

my 2 cents

I had my belt cover completely removed for 2 months. Then rust started to form all over the places.  Did look pretty at all. So, I first had to clean up the dirt and rust as best as I can, then I use heat resistant black paint to go over the cover and slap those bad boys on again. 

The heat, rain, water, will speed up the corrosion of the parts. So I think its better not to expose them to the element.
