Has anyone gone this route.

I keep getting emails with very convincing commercials to get over 259 TV channels on my PC .

I believe the cost is $49.95 and that may be a one time charge.

I know ...if it sounds to good to be true ...it's a con.

I don't know , this may be legit ?

I'd rather not hang out in my office to watch TV.

+1. Also, I still find all online video either takes forever to load even with broadband, or it's like youtube and looks like ass.

VGA (or HDMI if you have that output) from the laptop to the TV is a quick fix..

We do not have a TV and watch everything on a laptop.  We get DVDs from Netflix and watch on line there.  We also go to the individual TV channels and watch shows there.  We have not tired Hulu yet.

Why pay when you can get most of it for free?  I did get a 23 inch monitor to hook up to the laptop for bigger viewing.

I have an Apple Tv POS but I put the Boxee hack on it and we watch all the shows we missed through HULU that way. So now we can watch it on my 50" Pioneer instead of a 15" laptop now.

You can build yourself a nice TV watching machine with lots of storage, nice video card, perhaps a tuner card or two and hook it up to the big screen. If I could get internet out here that's what I would do. It would pay for it's self in a year.

We have cable, but use a Mythbox to record shows we like and surf the net on the big screen.

The wife could explain it better as im not a computer scientist, but I believe it has 2 400g hd's mirrored, and runs mythbuntu (linux,) costs nothing as far as monthly fee (i think TiVo charges?), and records what we want when we want Cheesy

It rawks Cheesy Cheesy

Hulu is only available in the US... I am not in the US so I can not use it, you could always go to the site and check. Its not a paid service or something you have to subscribe to.

Have you tried going to HULU through a proxy server?

Yes and it doesn't work anymore.
I used to connect through a socks5 proxy with a hotspot shield.... But they are clever bastards over there.

Theoretically, a proxy should work - I reckon Hulu got wind of Hotspot Shield and added those source addresses to a blacklist.  A non-SSL VPN device might work a little better, since I am not sure what IP address info is embedded in video streams.    Does sling.com work for you through a proxy?
