they use speed cameras in school zones in Akron.

I've only seen one in Mesa.

The school zones in Tempe are 35mph AT ALL TIMES.  The number of Tempe cops seems to keep this in check without cameras.  All major intersections have cameras for red light runners and about 3-4 "big brother" cameras.

BTW..love how Apple put a camera in the new Nanos.  We need MORE devices with cameras out there!  [roll]

Ohio's school zones are 20mph during school hours.

Painting your plates is illegal, as is adding any coating or covering that will hinder identification. You don't own the plate, the state does.

There's a group in NYC that does "theater" in front of random security cameras around the city to draw attention of passers-by of all the monitoring they're subjected to. I think it's a pretty novel approach.

When school is in session and/or when the kids are arriving/departing..the zones go down to 15mph.

that depends on state law.  in Cali, you own the plate.  you can buy vintage plates and use them to register your car, but you can't obviously obstruct the plate in any way.

i don't know of any (local) ordinance that prohibits a clear coat sprayed, i think it is subject to inspection though.

i know NY is pretty tough on it, they were busting folks with plate protectors -- clear ones -- a while back.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
