Hi again guys thanks for welcomes etc...

Following on from this:

The 696 will definately benefit from a new exhuast, the termi full system (though expensive) about 2.5-3K, depending on where u go ( i suggest going back to the dealer and getting a deal with them, they at least know you). helps with the power loss around 4.5KRPMs. Dropping down to a 14T sprocket also is a wise and innexpensive upgrade. I havnt done this one yet, but I am hearing it every where and it's ready to go on.

Also chop the tail, it just looks so much sweeter with the eliminator and all that plastic gone. no performance value. Though I swear I go faster now. [moto]

and then there's the...... crikey we could all go on forever.

and sometimes do...

I did contact the dealer to get his price for termis - $2.5k installed.... gonna to leave that for a month or two as I won't get it past the money police AKA Mrs Pompey at this moment in time Cry Guy also said did I know changing to the short tail kit was considered illegal by Mr  Police - at least in WA..??.

I agree it will look better so I'm thinking I'll change that first as long as I can change it back if needed..

Justo, did you change yours yourself? What's involved?  I'm presuming the rear indicators and seat lock remain in place?

Yep did it myself. I'm no mechanic but it's pretty easy. Instructions are not the greatest but it's possible follow. I think I read some points 4 or 5 times before I reverted back to my Lego days and used common sense. It took about 2-3hrs. With beer breaks hehe.

Some fiddly bits to get your fingers into but nothing crazy.

The seat lock postion does move though. It sits up under the seat now between the pipes. Not good getting your hand in there with hot pipes though. Not sure why you would want to though as the underseat storage on the 696 is stupidly small anyway.

The only bit of room is now taken up by the lock mechanism.

The indicators need to stay on for legal reasons. They bolt into the back of the plate bracket.

As for legalities. Not sure really. Plate is visible assuming you use the outer placing with indicators intact. The inner placement while nice is not legally practical as u loose indicators and plate vision.

Word of warning which I discovered last week. Removing the tail cause a bit more ass damp when it's raining. But the look is certainly worth a damp bum.

Let us know how u go.
