Hi guys,

Im taking delivery of a S4RS with Termi slip ons. Ducati are telling me I should get them fitted after I run the bike in, is this right? Obviously I would like to put the Termis on straight away!

Thanks

I can't see any reason not to put them on immediately, if not sooner.  If I am wrong on this, I know someone else will chime in and correct me.
If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you.  If you can't see Chuck Norris, you may be only seconds away from death.

Thats what I thought. Anybody think of a reason why it should be run in first? The slip on's come with an ECU as well so I cant think why it would be problem....

Ducati usually suggest this for a couple of reasons.
1. yes to give the engine a bit of a chance to "run in"
2. It is because of emission laws, they can't seel a bike new with a free flowing exhaust, even though they will
kindly fit it for you at first service usually for a fee.

Yeah I just called and clarified it with them. The main reason is the laws here in Australia, they are not allowed to let a new bike ride out of their showroom with an after market exhaust. Seems weird given they have brand new bikes fitted with Termis in their showroom, or maybe they were demos with a few k's/miles....?

Bill in OKC

Would it be legal if you rode it around the block and then brought it back in for service?

I do know of a couple of people who did 1000k in the first weekend and bought it back
for first service and pipe fitting on Monday after riding out on Friday.

Justo

I was tempted to do that too.

I convinced myself I'd appreciate the new pipes more after riding with stock for a while.

While your there go down a tooth on the front sprocket ( or up one on the rear - bit dearer ).

lol I dont think I can do 1000ks in one weekend, even though I cant wait for the bike. Will just have to wait a month or 2!
