Chain Master Link ?
«
on:
May 24, 2008, 09:31:21 AM »
So I'm still trying to sort out my chain issue from way back in April. I have a brand new 520 chain that I'm trying to use for my dirt and SM set up with a rivet type master link. The problem is, the length of the chain is a smidge short and I'm having to add a section of chain (same chain) which will cause me to use two master links.
Is this a bad idea or no biggy?
Thanks.

I have been advised by a very reputable source that this is a bad idea....do it at your own risk, Greggy !

Thanks. BD
It's just another $100 to buy a new chain! No big deal.

Just hypothecate that fake Noguchi table of your Wife's and you might be on your way to a new chain !

not to challenge your reputable source but, if they're both new chain sections, i don't see what damage using two master links would cause.

Same chain, never used, just bad luck on my part and trying to use the same chain for dirt and SM. What is the worst that can happen? The chain breaks agin. I have a case saver on the front sprocket.

Just quoting a reputable MC professional I rely on for quite a bit of my very own bike repair/service ....
this very thing came up on my 996S and it was a definate no-no !
So, please go ahead and experiment and let me know of the results, Mate.
