When riding this past Sunday (beautiful day) I noticed a couple of oil drops under my bike after stopping for lunch. The leak appeared to be coming from the area directly beneath the rear sprocket and accumulating in and around the recessed bolt beneath. I rode the bike for a couple more hours before returning home. I could not clearly identify exactly where the leak was originating. ???

The next day, I took the bike to work and noticed a small accumulation of oil on the floor as I pulled the bike out. No issues going to/from the office. Upon returning home noticed that oil was beginning to accumulate on my rear wheel. The next morning there was a newer, larger stain than the previous day.  :'(

I called my Dealer, Trebour Motorcycles in Ledgewood, NJ.

Service said to bring it in immediately; I dropped the bike off that evening (Tuesday). On Wednesday the shop had diagnosed the problem, found that the left side motor cover was leaking; removed it, cleaned it, resealed and reinstalled it. They test drove the bike and kept it overnight to verify that the leak was fixed (indeed it was). Thursday, Service called, explained what the found and did and said the bike was ready; warranty repair, no charge (of course) and I could pick it up anytime. Unfortunately the current weather is not like Sunday nor is it expected to be until Sunday. I asked if they could deliver it. Yes they could and lucky for me they had a scheduled delivery just a few miles away from my home and did so today, at no charge. [clap]

So once again, for those of your living in North/Central NJ, I continue to highly recommend Trebour Motorcycles in Ledgewood. Whether it's Henry in Sales, Joe in Service or Justin in Parts, buying, owning and maintaining my M696 is easy and enjoyable. [thumbsup]

i had the same problem on my gfs 696. took it in to the dealer and they fixed it, got it home and there was still oil on the bottom casing, i cleaned it all off and took it for a short ride. got home and again oil was on the casing. i took it back to the dealer and they found that one of the screws (i forget which one) had 2 copper washer seals on it instead of just one and that was causing it to not compress and seal properly. the mech replaced it and the problem was all fixed, thanks lurkingforyou  [thumbsup]
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.
